Blessing 11.4
May your prayers be deeper than words
getting to the heart of the matter
through movement, colour,
light and shade
As you communicate with the Divine
may your senses be open
for unspoken answers
may you feel the love
smell the scent
see the light

bathing in progress . . .
When we first moved to our island property, we had no electricity and no plumbing. We lived in a very beat up old caravan, and this was our 'bathroom': a wood-fired tub under the stars.
Then we moved into the studio/shed which was fitted out rustic/eclectic. Our bathroom upgrade included a shower over an old bath we bought from a junk shop and repainted, colorbond offcuts for walls, and pre-loved rowboat oars for towel racks.
Then, after three years of 'living rough', we finished building the house. This was our shiny new bath. It's the nicest bathroom we've ever had, after a lifetime of living in dingy rental properties. I love this bathroom of mine, and the vanity unit we designed for it.But when I look back on our bathing progress, there was something pretty special about the wood-fired tub, and something quirky about the rustic bathroom in the studio. They had personality, character, originality. And we had to have perserverance and guts to get through those bathing days.
Honestly, by the time we'd run around and gathered enough sticks to make a fire, put the water in the drum, lit the fire and waited for it to heat up, if we hadn't really needed a bath before we certainly needed one by the time we'd drawn the water!
The shower in the studio runs off an instant gas hot water service. I lost count of the number of times the flame blew out on windy wintery mornings. Of course it would wait till your hair was full of shampoo to kick in with the cold water! Then there was a mad dash outside to re-light the water heater, or if Mr X was home, a mighty yell so that he would dash outside...
Yes, I love my shiny new bathroom, but it also has perils. Running off rainwater tanks, it involves water pumps. If there is no electricity, there is no water for a bath, shower or toilet. Thankfully that doesn't happen very often.
I think Mr X looks back on the pioneer stages with fondness. He has a plan to build a deck out in the middle of the paddock, with a wood-fire heated bath in the middle of it.
Talk about going full circle . . .

Clever art
This artwork was created in July at The Rocks, a harbourside precinct in Sydney, Australia. Not worth a second glance, until you realise it was created from 3,604 cups of coffee! That's clever! Check it out
Blessing 11.3
May your head touch the sky
May you see clearly
May you have the capacity to listen
May you be free to touch
May your words be true
May your heart and mind be open
May your hands be empty to fill the need
May your arms be open to others
May your gifts be revealed to you
So that you may return that which has been given
Completing the great circle.

Koala capers
Stop and take a moment to really notice your surroundings.
You might be surprised what you see.
While doing that recently, I was rewarded with a two act drama from nature.

Blessing 11.2
when the weight of the world
is pressing heavily on your shoulders
may you have one or two
willing to stand at your side
and take the pressure off
even if momentarily
long enough to know
you are not alone
and when you see a friend bowed low
under their own pressures
may you have the strength
to ease their load momentarily
so they too know
they are not alone

Blessing 11.1
May you walk softly and simply
so your eyes may really see
May you accept what is before you
as it is now
yet all the while
May you continue to hold the vision
for what can be to come
May you be the person you need to be
for it to enter in

Art Attack: prompt
original photo by Kel © 2009At the end of the day . . .
into each life some rain must fall
otherwise we'd die of dehydration
It might be a photo, a painting, a poem, a short story, a sketch, a joke. Post it to your blog, then leave a comment here to say you've just had an art attack.

The hole truth
If you saw this
Considering I'm the world's worst mini-golf player, it didn't make sense for me to get some friends to head off for an afternoon of mini-golf. and I even scored a hole in one at this complicated looking creation

It ticked all the boxes for my favourite kind of art : experiential, interactive, quirky, fun, hands-on, accessible, community-based. Great stuff.
